Hello all, it's been a while and a lot's been going on. Since my last entry I've relaxed and battled giant spiders on a small Malaysian island (Arachnophobia and John Goodman my ass, you should have seen the monster I that i found on my bathroom floor one day), lived life Singapore style and currently I'm "down under" in Australia.
Singapore was great, in fact my second favourite next to Nepal so far. I've never considered myself to be much of a city person but Singapore I really liked (maybe in part because of the escape from those malaysian beasts of spiders, I really lost my cool there). It's a very nice city, doesn't feel so big and I met very nice people there, which is always fun.
And Australia, what can I say? Everything I expected, nice weather, strong sun, friendly people and lots and lots of fellow backpackers. So far, we've spent a few days in Brisbane and are now in a small town called Port Macquaere, or however you spell that, which is middle way between Sydney and Brisbane. Tomorrow we will take a bus to Sydney. The days have gone by in a bit of a haze, Asia was such a shock to the system, quite frankly we weren't sure we'd make it all the way here, but we've kept ourselves busy. We went to a watertheme park, always good fun, and today I went to a koala hospital. Magnificent creatures and wonderful to see them so upclose, smaller than I thought though...
I'm so settled in Australia that I've even tested their healthcare service! Although it should be noted I don't intend to make a habit of this in every country, but an emergency is an emergency;) Standing in the kitchen of our hostel in Brisbane, I managed to get either some chilli or pepper in my eye, and man did it sting! I was sure the eye was just about ready to pop out. It all ended in a good way and hopefully this will be the last of my misfortunes for a while...
In any case, I wish family and friends near and far a very happy easter and hope you have a nice one. I certainly intend to...
